Default Ticking noise

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm having a slight ticking noise out the driver side. Sometimes a little bit of smoke comes out the driver side tailpipe. I was told that it was running rich on the fuel due to it being out of tune. It has no catalytic converters, straight pipe. I was told by the local Ford house that no big issues except for it needing to be re-tuned. I bought this vehicle pre-owned and didn't know that it had been custom tuned previously. The Ford house mechanic told me that it needed to be re-tuned or to put catalytic converters on it and that would fix the smoking, running rich on fuel and the little noise. Any suggestions/opinions? Does that sound right? I'd hate to waste money on unnecessary work and still have the ticking and smoke. Thanks in advance

putting cats back in will fix the smoke coming out of the tail pipes, its not going to fix the ticking or your car running rich. sounds like you maybe have an exaust leak or something, i'd bring it somewhere else to get dionosted
