new fuel cell

so i'm about to order a plastic 16 gallon jaz fuel cell to drop into the trunk of my mustang. i'm going to cut out a square where the spare tire would go, make a bracket that will sit the new fuel cell 6 inchs below the trunk floor. i've got one problem though, the fuel cell's sending unit range is 0-90 ohmz. and it looks like for my stock guage cluster to work i need a 15-150ohmz range. anybody have any ideas? is there a different way to meter fuel maybe something that reads inline?

well, ordered the fuel cell with a 0-90ohm sending unit, i'm just going to put in an autometer guage somewhere. also just ordered a bosch 044 inline fuel pump, if i could figure out how to past pictures i'll put it all up cause i plan on doing it next weekend. should be pretty sweet

are you converting to a return style setup? the bosch 044 is for return style setups, i'm assuming you already knew this since your gettin a fuel cell. in the same process myself. btw cutting out that trunk proved to be a bit of a pain. wish i had a plasma cutter. dunno how far back your going to sit the cell, but i tried to push mine forward a bit and realized there's a bit of bracing there that i had to cut through. ended up having to get a sawzall with a 9" blade.

yea i'm going to a return style, and i'm going to cut a 19x19" square where the spare tire would go, i still havnt measured it out yet so i don't know how much i will have to cut, i've just started making a bracket to hold the fuel cell snug

nice. i had to go something like a 17x27 i think. or maybe it was like 19x24. I got a 16 gallon sumped tank from summit with fuel level sender, two -8 outs at the "sump", and one -6 return. putting a tip vent valve with a -8. might convert the -6 return to a -8.

19x19 might be easier.

here's the cell i got:

the problem is that i want it far enough back that i can easily fit the fuel fittings without them being seen, still have room to fill it from the trunk without a fuel filler. and that put me right where the extra bracing is for those stock tank straps are, i got most of it cut out, but i gotta cut through whats left of the one on the passenger side closer to the axle. good chunk of metal.

after that, i'll weld up a frame, add in a bit of bracing, then im thinking of either zues fasteners or rivets for aluminum paneling. not even worried about completely sealing off the trunk from cabin yet, as its not my primary fuel system... yet... running a carb with a small 2.5 gallon tank and electric pump for now.
