Default throttle body

is there a downside to getting a 78mm bbk throttle body. my question comes form the fact that getting that will save me 100 bucks and since its bigger it will be better right? also my county has no emisson reg just so you know.

The only downside is it's BBK. I've had no problems with the couple of BBK things that are on my car, but there are plenty of people out there who have less than flattering things to say about their products.

What mods do you have again? If few, I would suggest putting the money towards something else.. Maybe gears, exhuast (if you don't have it already). Appearance mod would be a Mach 1 Grill delete. GL!

Take that money and put a new upper plenum on it. That all you really need until you go FI, I only installed my 75mm TB because I got a good deal on it already assembled to a new upper plenum. ITs BBK BTW with no issues thus far.

It will not perform as well as a properly sized TB/upper plenum (70mm for n/a), however the reduced performance would be quite small, empirically negligible, and be only even measurable at lower RPMs and WOT--not a usual combination.

A potential downside is that if the only component that can fail, the TB, does fail you need to replace the entire assembly--but once again the likelihood of that is slim. Over the years BBK's products have often been more about "show than go"...
