Want my 2001 GT automatic to run 12's
Is it possible to make my GT run in the 12's without nitrous? I have slicks for it.
I was thinking that gears and a chip would help. But I can't see that doing enough. Is a cam a worth while upgrade for the $$$. I have a cat back exhaust, so I figured I get headers and do the whole exhaust.
Ideas please. I'd like to do it as cheap as possible.
Thanks

With an auto, you don't have to worry if your a good driver or not. It only matter with a stick. Rather all the OP needs to focus on is the "timing tree" @ the strip. If you have the $$$ go straight for a turbo or S/C set-up. Otherwise if your on a budget: Stall Convert, Cams, shift kit, 4.10's, and LCA's. Will get you pretty close if not there, maybe.

So with a auto there is no technique needed? Just put the car in drive and push the gas when the light turns green... So why is it a guy on you tube with a 11 5.0 (auto) ran a low 14?

with auto the transmission is shifting for you.... the real technique is the launch. what is an 11 5.0 ? a 2011 5.0 running 14s? maybe its 4,000 foot elevation track and he spun out a lot?
who knows.
