Default Gas Overflowing on Fill up

Hey guys I have an 03 gt and every time I fill up with gas it overflows. I have tried several stations and even stopping before it gets full, put gas pump on the slowest fill even holding it myself and trying to go slow. Is the overflow clogged or something?

thanks

I believe it has something to do with the filler neck grommet where it meets up with the tank....

Someone who knows more about that could give you some more info.

Be patient, you will get an answer.

That was a problem with mine, the grommet was completely shredded somehow :\

The majority of it is going down behind the fender. A little comes out at you.
Do you have to drop the tank to replace this?

Well I replaced the gasket, I ended up having to drop my tank which was no big deal but the old one was ok so problem is still there. It looks like the fuel is not shutting off soon enough so the fuel overflows and then runs down the overflow tube which comes out at the bottom of the fender. This happens also if I only put the nozzle on the first click. Any other ideas?

I saw someone write something about bringing the car to the "stealer" and I have a little story about that. After my regular mechanic replaced several gas tank-related parts and didn't fix the problem, I broke down and brought it to Sayville Ford here on Long Island. Amazingly, they said they see this a lot, that spiders spin webs in the drain tubes and clog them up. Incredibly, they only charged me the minimum amount and didn't try and sell me anything else. And - THEY FIXED IT! Works like a charm, no more slow fills or overflowing fill pipe. An honest dealer - I didn't think they existed!
