Noise when clutch is disengaged
This noise just started recently. Sometimes, normally when the car is warm, I get a odd rubbing (or rolling) noise when I disengage the clutch. At first I thought it was the AC running, but that is not the case. It makes the noise when the clutch is pressed and stops as soon as I put the car in gear. I don't seem to have any trouble changing gears.
Any ideas? Thanks. |
Probably the throwout bearing.

If you're going to the trouble of replacing the TOB, then you might as well replace the clutch and pilot bearing while you're in there. A new clutch fork is also a good idea.

I found a place locally that some friends have recommended that can do the labor for $300. He quoted me $230 for the clutch kit, and said it was the OEM replacement. He also said he had no problem installing an aftermarket kit if I wanted to buy that and bring it to him.
What would you recommend? OEM or aftermarket? |
I would NOT recommend SPEC. it chatters terrible and the throwout bearing was bad from the factory. I have the SPEC stage 2. hate it.
