Default Vibration - Motor, trans, driveshaft, wheels what is it?

Car is a 1997 Mustang Cobra, 79k miles.
I've noticed that at certain RPM's there's a vibration, you can't really feel it int he car very much but you can watch the shifter shake wildly and it makes a weird noise. It can happen between 2-3k rpm, light throttle, low speeds, but I've noticed it can happen when coasting in gear in high or low revs, 5-5.5k or so.

I've done enough research but haven't really pinpointed anyone that has the same symptoms, I don't know if it's the engine causing the driveline to shake or it's the other way around.

U joints, motor/tranny mounts, wheels unbalanced I dont know what it is. It seems that in neutral or with the clutch pushed in I don't feel or see any of these vibrations. Someone suggseted a loose exhaust clamp but I don't see how that would cause the shifter to shake wildly.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Might not be a bad idea to start with the drive shaft and U-Joints as prime suspects. The main reason I say this is because you mention the second RPM range, and it not exhibiting the same symptoms while in neutral. Think harmonics here.

if you can get the car in the air, start with the drive shaft to see if there is any play, check trans mount, control arms, ect. with a 97, things are bound to be worn and broken down. these cars have rubber bushings that can deteriorate over time. like mentioned above, the drive shaft sounds like the suspect though

Im leaning towards driveshaft, but all the things you posted are what to check out.

Thanks guys, was hoping it wasn't engine related and doesn't seem like it is then, motor doesn't smoke, no leaks of any kind nothing weird out the tailpipe or smells. I'll do some more digging.
