Default 5 spd trans issue on 03 GT

Just had an issue the other night while sliding the rear end around a corner, went to shift normally after the turn and it wouldn't go into 5th gear. After pushing extremely hard it went in and has been fine, then today at a light I got on it a little bit and it was extremely hard going into 3rd. after getting it into 3rd it shifted fine again. Is it getting due for a rebuild?

Have you tried adjusting your clutch? If its the stock quadrant simply lift up the clutch pedal and hold if for a few seconds and let it back down.

Yeah it still has the stock clutch I believe, I will give that a try. Just hoping I don't have a synchro or something getting ready to go out.

hey man the 01-03 mustangs with t3650 trans has a TSB for bad synchros, usually 1-3 but i guess it could also effect 5th and also have you ever did a trans fluid drain and fill. Check out my thread t3650 ?'s cliff gave me all the info on a post. grinding into 2nd at high rpms was my problem. mine was fixed with just changing the fluid to mobile 1 synthetic atf, and the proper fill amount 3.0L instead of the 3.8L they fill it with from the factory. Hope this helps
