Default What to look for when buying a 2000-04 GT

I am wandering what to look for when buying a 2000-04 ford mustang GT or what are the common problems with these model years?

Miss fire seems like a lot of people have the problem of it missing. There are about a 100 things it can be and it seems like no one ever fixes it. Make sure to check for these things though:

-body repair (check the radiator support for damage or if it has been welded)
-put your hand over the tail pipe while it is running (if your hand has oil on it or not)
-overall condition of the interior and motor can tell something about how it was taken care of
-check the oil for being low or if it is a bad color (just pull dipstick)
-look under car for rust and any damage
-while driving it make sure to go through all the gears even reverse
-listen for anything fishy with the motor running and the hood popped
-look for any leaks under the car and motor
-check under the carpet in the trunk for rust can be a common problem
-make sure all the gauges are actually working (mileage)
-Check AC and radio
-take the car up to speed around 50 and see if there are any vibrations in suspension
-let the car warm all the way up to temp can make a difference in any problems

Someone else I’m sure will have more information on possible problems
Good luck

Dude up top covered just about everything lol
Make sure that if there's any work done to the car you ask for receipts especially one with bolt ons and if its lowered ask what kind of springs it has. You don't want cut springs. hell of a bumpy ride.. & crappy handling. If you get one with an offroad pipe ask if they have the stock h for smog.

Definately run a carfax before you buy it. I found out my car was in 6 accidents after I bought it. Luckily my car is square, but i still don't like the fact that she's been in so many accidents.... poor Marilyn
