are you changing pads and rotors? normally you can just use a large C clamp to press the piston back into the calilper, allowing enough space for the new pads. however, i've heard that you don't want to use this method on a stang. not sure because i haven't had to do my brakes yet

On some cars, You need to almost "screw in" the pistons. IDK about a stang... never done brakes on one, but this is fairly common on european cars

You can use a "C" clamp for the front brakes only but for the rear you need to screw them back in. You can get the tool at your local auto parts store and they are not that expensive.
