If he just had the control arm bushings replaced, you would think the shop would have told him about the spring....must be one hell of a shop.

@ OP, if you have had both control arm bushings replaced on both sides then a cracked spring is all I could see it being.

I've seen this before. Check and see if you still have dust covers on your struts. If not, THAT is likely to be the issue. The dust covers have the metal disk that the strut seats into, and the dust cover seats into the upper cup. It is necessary unless you have coilovers.

When I did my first set of struts, I left the boots off and the strut rods made contact with my hood. They are not easy to find on ebay, so junk yard or Ford. Takes some time to put them in, but not hard really. Undo the sway bar end links, the top nut on the strut, and lower the arm with a floor jack until you can compress the strut enough to swing it out and slide the boot on.

IF I'm correct, your car will behave utterly differently.

Shops can be half assed big time, ive seen all kinds of shady stuff go down. Plus a person in a rush can probably legitimatly overlook it because those bottom isolators are like a sleve over the bottom 1.5-2 coils or so. Alot of newer mechanics would toss it back together so they can get more labor money when it comes back to change it. So many ***** bastards in this buisness.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. There is no question that the strut rods are hitting the hood. I have two dents/ indentations right above each strut rod under the hood.
