Lowering my GT
 

Hi all. i was at CS motorsports (greatest aftermarket auto shop ever in my area!!!) today and was talking to an employee and got to talking about lowering springs. he said that for around $570 (including installation) they would sell me eibach pro kit. also i talked to him about aftermarket CC plates and he said that as along as i got an alignment after the drop i would be fine with the stock ones. They do have the best alignment in my area. so do you guys think this is the way to go? i figure it is since i am just gonna be doing street driving and maybe 2-3 highway pulls :icon_naughty:
i am surprised he didnt just immediately try to sell me the springs and cc plates so i guess thats what makes me trust him on this subject more than i usually would have.

They are recommended with a drop over 2".

ok. thanks. the drop would only be 1.5 inches all around. is $570 for the install and the springs a good deal? ive read where most installs are around $400 and the springs are around $2-250 so i figure im saving around $80. well... just answered my own Q didnt i?:icon_screwy: lol. nvm

I installed the Eibach Pro Kit on my Cobra & I did not need the aftermarket CC plates....

that is my dream car right there.

Just buy the springs and put them in yourself ? Saving yourself around 300 bucks. I bought Vogtland springs with a 1.6'' drop with no isolators and my C/C plates just barely brought my camber in spec.

I have H&R SS's with no iso's and I needed CC plates. however, I find that alot of people running the pro kit from eibach dont need them. I've seen this in person as our cobra has it, and still has stock CC plates with no issues. buy the springs, install them, and align it, if it needs CC plates, do them when you do the shocks/struts because with in a few months or so you'll be in there again replacing them because the lowering will create a lot of extra wear and tear on them, as the stock shocks/struts are not made for lower than the factory height, and they will eventually start leaking.

Eibach is a great company don't get me wrong. I used the Bilstein BTS-12 Series, it was cheaper, and actually my car rides better than my buddy's cobra. Did it myself, and saved about $600.00 considering the cost difference and labor. Eibach, and Bilstein, both awesome companies, the quality is there, and you gotta shop around before you buy the first thing you come across. I've shot myself in the foot a 1000 times being impulsive and impatient jumping on the first thing I come across and then find it cheaper three weeks later.
