Default Car shakes a little in 1st gear/how to change the transmission fluid?

So I recently started driving the Mustang my mom was driving for a while. I don't believe the transmission fluid was changed in a while and it has 120k miles on her. She shakes a little in the 1st gear. It shakes the car and the steering wheel then it jumps into the 2nd gear. It's extremely weird. I also want to drain the transmission fluid and change it all myself. I took the car into the ford dealership and I had them change the oil and do a check. They said there is a crack in the exhaust. So I guess my main questions are... what do you think this shaking is and how do I do a good transmission oil flush myself?

It sounds like its grinding, if thats the case chances are damage is already done, but it can be like that for awhile. I'm assuming its an automatic by your post. It can be difficult to get a full fluid drain DIY, when u drop the pan u only change the fluid in the pan itself, theres quite alot of fluid in the torque convertor. Your best bet is to take it to a shop that has a t-tech machine or similar. Have them replace the filter then flush the system, as these machines push out all of the old fluid.

Yeah you're probably going to have to take it to a garage to do a full fluid flush. That would be your best bet.As Keith said when you drop the pan you only get out what it's holding which is about 3-4 qt.My mech charges $125 for that, not sure what the difference is where you live.I'd call around and ask some reputable shops what they charge, plus what all is included for that price.
