Only replacement on my 96 100k was the alternator. Now i did rip thru a clutch one time playing a bit to hard, and thats my fault for being hard on it. But for a cobra ride hard and out up wet. Seriously. Drive pretty rough for 100k....one single item. Sometime it hurts to think about it...may never run that well again. Haha

I have an '02 Explorer and Mustang GT both with over 130k on the motors.

Neither have had any motor issues besides replacing an IAC valve on the Explorer. Which isn't even a "motor failure".

There's a reason they stuck these 4.6's in millions of fleet vehicles.

4.6's are great! my stang has been boosted at 12 #s for 2 years strong stock block.. And I have a 99 expedition with 198k on the clock only issue is the oil. I lose about 1.5 qts through 3k miles.. Nothing a weekly check cant stay on top of.

2V is a a two valve and 4V is a valve. A 4V has more potential and more power from the factory in stock form. It's a DOHC and can flow much better than the 2V.. And to add, a Teksid block is undoubtly strong and can withstand a lot of power..

To clarify a bit it's valves per cylinder, 2 or 4.

Not to be confused with the old days when "V" was the number of bores in the carburetor body:

Hahaha you guys are full of it. These mustangs are crap. You're gonna experience like 20 different noises that cost lots of money to fix. I have a 4.6 motor is good but the rest of the car is just garbage.

See. Even someone who hates Mustangs says the 4.6 is good.
