Default Looking for upgrade advice on 03 GT

So after months of deliberation on a second car, I decided to get a 2003 Mustang GT Convertible 5sp. From what I can tell it is 110% stock.

I am planning on the following upgrades, and was looking for some advice as far as bang for the buck, or something I might just be missing. I am going to use this car as my daily driver, and want to keep it street legal and reliable. It gets better gas mileage than my 07 expedition after all

Cat back exhaust system with Flowmaster super 44's. I really like the aggressive sound.

Cold air induction

BBK 78mm throttle body and plenum

New spark plug wires and plugs

Once all this is in place, take it to Dallas Mustangs and have it tuned.

I apologize in advance for my the simplicity of my post here, but my head has been in other toys for a while. Any feedback on other tweaks/mods that I should consider, and any specific suggestions on the cold air system would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kevin

Welcome to MF.. sounds like you have a good list.. Have you considered a canned tune instead of a custom? It'll save you money, a custom tune isn't required for basic bolt ons.

Skip the cold air intake, it adds no performance. Skip the throttle body. Go with exhaust and gears.

I thought about getting a Bama Tuner, I guess I could do that instead of spending 300 bucks at DM to have them tune it.

+1 on the exhaust and gears, also would suggest a short throw shifter such as MGW. was one of my favorite mods i did on my GT.

also these cars have COP's not plug wires, just an fyi.

After further reading, I think i am going to go with the 70MM throttle body, as I do not plan on supercharging, and it looks like anything over 70 the 75 and 78 MM are meant for supercharged or cars that are going to be more heavily modded than mine.

Also, after researching the short shifter, I am adding that to the list, Thanks MVR, this is the kind of stuff I am looking for, I really appreciate the assistance.

I may look into upgrading the gears at some point, but right now, I'm just looking at pretty easy bolt on upgrades.

TBs really are useless unless your motor is seriously starving for that air.. Until you get it to breath out the exhaust you aren't going to really see anything out of a TB.. Don't get caught up in the numbers that companies advertise with different ones as those aren't peak numbers.. It's a waste of money IMO and can be spent elsewhere with a much better bang for the buck...

Like others have said, exhaust and gears are great ways to start! Don't be afraid of getting gears installed.

You don't have spark plug wires... Go with exhaust, shifter, and gears to start.

I just installed my 4.10s this weekend.

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else get exhaust, gears and a tuner.
