Default Cobra cyl heads on a GT?

Hi everyone. just had started pondering this topic. I have found a set of cobra heads including cams all put together for really cheap and im wondering if it is possible to put the cobra heads onto a regular 99 gt? i understand i have to get intake and exhaust manifolds and lots of others but I still want to know if it can be done or if anyone has done it?

thanks

Definitely doable, I've seen it done on another forum before. It takes a lot of parts collecting though. It would make more sense to me to buy an assembled engine to drop in.

Seems like I've read the GT pistons matched with the cobra heads make for low compression. Could have made that up though

I think it will (not 100% sure) work but your timing/fuel/air would need to be adjusted for the 4v heads within the computer level of the car.. same issue with dropping a 4v engine in as you would need everything right down to the computer to make it work.

you can, BUT the conpression will be at 8.5 to 1. if the heads are assembled, then you will need:
exhaust manifolds
complete intake manifold and throttle body
cold air intake
valve covers
timing chain covers
coolent hoses/thermostate housing
coolent crossover
cop's
new head gaskets
altinater
your cop harness will need to be modded
the gt tune will be fine for a while be get it tuned

ever thought of going to the junkyard and pulling a teskid block and building a forged motor on the side. might take a while longer depending on your money constraints but it would be well worth it and you can still drive the car for now.

new aftermarket heads would still be more than a 4v swap. if it was me, i would either do a spare forged engine build like mvr said, a mark viii 4v engine swap or run a intercooled vortech

Default ugh...a much easier way

sell yours and buy a cobra. Or do an engine swap. Way too much effort and possible issues.
