Default Running Pony/Honeycomb grille question

Thanks in advance for anyone's responses. I recently purchased a black running pony emblem for the front of my car. I'm probably going to put it in when I have a spare moment this weekend. My question is: Is there any way to get rid of the plastic chrome painted "corral" around the pony while keeping the honeycomb grille?

I know a lot of people don't like the honeycomb, but it doesn't bother me. What DOES bother me is the plastic corral. I've got a white GT and I'm going black on all the accents, so I'd like to get rid of the chrome without getting rid of the honeycomb.

Thanks.

I dont think you can without looking at something aftermarket.

You could try plasti-dipping or painting the chrome ring?

There is a way to take it off.. But it wont look right.. I took off the whole honeycomb and made my own grill delete so when I took off the chrome ring around the pony it looked like crap without it.

So when I first posted this I was at work and hadn't even taken a look behind the grille. The corral pops out, there is some little tabs connecting it into the honeycomb. About as easy as it gets, yet you could snap/scuff some plastic if you're not gentle.

It looks a little ragged because of the empty tab holes. I may fill them, or just go the way that most do and get the delete. Here's what she looks like.

I must of picked up at least 15-20 hp with this thing alone...

If I were you I would look into plasti dipping the corral while you have it out then put it back in. That way it'll be black and last a while but still look right

You should just cut out the pony and make your own delete grill.. That's what I did and then just paint and fill the bottom where the old honeycomb grill holes were.
