to run the comp 270's when you have the PI heads off take the intake valves out and grind .040" off the lip on the valve you can run the cams straight up with no PTV issues

MAKE SURE YOU DEGREE THE CAMS!!!!!!!

i think im going to get a PI 4.6 p&p heads and either 262 or 270 and some nitrous how much does a dyi head replacement cost

head changing kit: $100

intake manifold: $50-150

oil, filter, coolant: $50

coolant pipe and other asst. crap: $100ish

cams and springs: $850 if you go with COMP, $600 for MHS, stock springs OK

modified intake valves: free-$40

heads: $100-1800 depending on what you get

while youre in there you might as well throw a set of longtubes on and a few other bolt ons, easier to do with the heads off...

another good option (what i did) was to grab a complete PI motor out of a junkyard and use all the parts off that, i got my engine for $150 and used the heads, intake, coolant tube, etc

all said for EVERYTHING around $1500-2000

so taking a pi motor and putting heads and a cam on it will cost 1500 to 2 g not including the h/c

it depends what you get/find

my build goes:

engine - $150

Gaskets/seals - $200

cams, springs, FPR - $300 (gotta love craigslist!!!)

oil, coolant, filters, plugs, etc - $200

longtubes, OR X - $400

TB - $250

injectors - free (i traded a 6AL box for them)

misc odds and ends - $300

all told im into mine for $1800 just for the basics, not including my wideband, MGW, and a bunch of other stuff...

so my build im not going to be spending 2gs

sell my block get one with the money

sell heads and cams get heads with money cam for cheap maybe of corral or somewhere

throw a 4.10 under it and shorty headers and some laughing gas

plus every other random thing 1000-1800 total for close to 300 rwhp

no, you need to keep your shortblock, the NPI pistons are what make it a PI swap not a PI motor...

no use a pi block with ported and polished heads possibly ss values and cams shorty headers for close to 300 hp then spray it with nitrous and gear it
