Default Low coolant sensor

After letting my 99 gt sit for about a week the low coolant light is on. I checked the coolant level and it is full. Do these sensors go bad? I was wondering if there is a way i can check to make sure it is the sensor before going to buy a new one.

The 96 has a float in the coolant reservor which activates the low coolant sensor. Sometimes they get stuck for whatever reason. I don't know if a 99 has the same set up or not but I'd check that first.

The sensor may be stuck. You could try cleaning the reservoir. On my 2000, I finally had to replace the reservoir as it is not replaceable. think it was about $80 from the dealer

I have this same problem. Is the sensor not removable/replaceable?
