Default Should I Run E-85?

So we just got a few new gas stations in town that carry e85 and I've read and heard that I can make more power on e85 but will sacrifice mileage. Since I bought the car to go fast and not to get great mileage, this is a non issue with me.

Currently, the highest octane around here is 91.

With the blower and 39# injectors I have right now, would I have to do anything else to the car other than a new tune?

Is the hp gain worth it with e85 or would a simple bolt on be easier?

I'd suggest upgrading your fuel system before thinking about e85

E85 is really nice to have, and the MPG loss to the cost of it I would say about evens itself out. I think here about an hour away (closest one) is about $2.60. Boosted cars LOVE E85 and it's great for cooling. (If I remember correctly you can even run a higher PSI). I don't know how all setups are but my Gramps has E85 running in his car, and if he doesn't want to run it he just drains the gas and flips the switch in his console and can run Premium gas. One bad thing I notice is that if the car is cold (fall winter spring) and you try to start it up for the first time that day, it could be a while, and run the risk of really killing your battery.

Even though i'm NA I would switch to E85 in a heartbeat, but as I said, the closest place that sells it is an hour away.

E85 requires more fuel, you'll want to upgrade your injectors and pump (depending on how much boost you are pushing).

Unless you are going all out, it's not really worth it for most.

E85 is bunk.

You need 20% more fuel for normal driving and 50% more at WOT. This translates to more trips to the gas stations with only up to 20% more power.

Depending on your power level and your mods you'd be better off to just add a splash race gas to a premium tune.

For your mods, you'd be stupid to switch to E85.

a local guy on a cobra went from 600rwhp, to 690rwhp with the addition of e85. but he had to have a HUGE fuel system to support it. if your on the stock bottom end, you wont be able to get any more hp's to benefit because you'll be needing a forged shortblock to hold the power, so running it and staying at the same power levels will end up being more costly.

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'll just stay with pump gas until I decide to upgrade the internals.
