Another thing I noticed is that every time I put it in gear, I hear a popping noise, like the tranny ot something.

Could it possibly be the clutch cable? Cause it doesn't slip or anything, I can go from first gear to 5th anand it wont turn off on me.

clutch slippage and grinding come from two different causes, not related at all. You have a bad syncro. You can have a firewall adjuster installed and adjust it to where minimal clutch engagement is required, this may decrease the grinding a little but the bottom line is your going to need tranny rebuild so don't waste your money on anything else. If money's tight just drive her easy for a while.

The grinding above 2k sounds weird. Maybe the cable tension isn't set correctly and the clutch isn't releasing completely. What pedal position does the clutch grab? Down low? Up high? If it's close to the floor, you may have found your problem. I would try some simple solutions first to be sure it needs a rebuild. I got rid of a grinding problem by just changing the fluid.
