Default New tires, but..........

Hey guys......I just had some new Kuhmos put on my '02 GT..........They seem ok but the stang feels like it has less power........Am I stupid or what.......It just seems to have lost hp or maybe it just feels like that.......Will having better rubber on the road make the car feel less powerful? Also, the new tires don't seem to drive as well as the old tires.......I had Wynstar Exocets on before so I'm sure that Kuhmos are an upgrade, right? Is this normal?

Having better rubber shouldnt make you feel less powerful. Shouldnt nesesarily make you feel faster either... unless you can hook a lot better.

Does it feel less powerful from a stop? Or everywhere in general. If its from below 10mph; when you punch it you may be spinning however you dont hear tires squeel so it feels less powerful.

Alot of times, if you are getting traction, your call will feel slower because you are used to being able to spin the hell out of the tires. Spinning like crazy gives you feeling that your car is faster.

I had kuhmos on my last stang and loved them!!!! They where great in the rain(no snow in florida). Did you just change new tires or did you get new rims too? I just got some toyo's on the back, Ihavent had them long enough to know if I like them.

When I got my Hankooks put on, my car "felt" a lil more powerful simply cause it took about a week or so so get those tires to stick. They slipped and squeeled at 1/4 throttle until they soften up. I like them better than the Falkens and Bridgestones I had on before...

Very nice wheels Heith01. FR500's, right? I have heard and read good things about Toyo tires but never new anyone who had a set. I'm more interested in handling than straight line stuff. I was kind of thinking about Pirelli's for my next tire choice. I think Avon tires have now passed Pirelli as the highest rated overall all season tire at Tire Rack. Funny, though, those that like Avon's rave about them. Those that don't like them basically bad mouth the hell out of them. WTF...who really knows what is what? If you ever come across a review of Toyo tires, please post it for me to read. Thanks.

go to tirerack.com and read the reviews.

and for the original poster, your new tires might need a different amount of air in them than your stock or most recent tires needed. that might be why they feel different.

What kind did you get? I just bought a set of ASX's, waiting to get the mounted/balanced. I'll post when I have them on and decide if I like them or not. I'm guessing I will based on the reviews from Tirerack where I bought them.
