The throttle body on your 01 is larger than the GT so it will not connect properly to that intake. There must be other reasons too but this is the one for certain that I know.
It has a lot more to do with that the layout and dimensions of intake ports on the 4V heads are similar to those on the 2V heads only in that they are holes leading to intake valve(s)...
