Default Sweet Thunder Exhaust

My cousin has a Firebird that has Sweet-Thunder mufflers installed on it. I love the sound and want a set for my 02 Mustang GT. I have a stock exhaust system now and want to replace just the mufflers keeping all my stock piping. (I don't have the time nor the money to put a lot of mods on this car, but i want it to sound louder than flowmasters.) I can't seem to find anywhere what size the stock piping is on these GT's. I'm guessing its 2.5 in. My next problem is the fact that the stock mufflers have offset inlets and outlets, and these chambered mufflers are straight. I need some advice on how I should going about leaving my exhaust as stock as possible, but somehow getting these chambered mufflers installed.

You could probably just get a full catback. You can get a brand new one for less than 400 nowadays. You could always get a used one for probably around 200. You gain more hp and get the sound you want for only a little more money. Plus it's an easy install.

Remember that the Firebird has a bigger engine and a Y-pipe so it is going to sound signifcantly different on you rcar.

Any decent shop will be able to cut off the inlets/outlets and weld on new angled inlets/outlets to make the mufflers fit, might not look totally pretty but that's what happens when you try doing things the cheap way.

You can get a set of Flowmasters/Magnaflow/Mac/SLP + more to simply weld in place of your stock mufflers, or spend 3-400 and get a catback exhaust and have your car REALLY sound good.

2.25 is correct for stock. Go with a full cat back, your better off. As said, aftermarket catbacks are 2.50. It will cost less to get the full catback v/s getting mufflers and having them welded in. And you can install most catbacks in your own garage. Just need a sawsall to get the old one out and some tools to install new one. Simple task.....

yeah go at least 2 chamber especially if your keeping the resty stock. the funny thing is youll get the mufflers and then say "wow it will be even louder with an x-pipe" so you might as well just cough up the money now and save yourself the trouble
