Default idle issue? or missfire maybe?

when it was throwing a "CEL"

was told first Random multipule misfire
then was told on another occasion whatever the issue is
was caused by a lean condition on bank #2

car was perfect until i fixed the notorious filler neck fuel leak

so here is what i did..

went back and checked for pinched or unhooked or damaged lines/wires
from when i dropped the tank..

nothing there..

changed plugs (went to the NGK IX TR55s)
cleaned bank 2 injectors
checked for Vac Leaks
had a buddy clean the maf (also tryed a good one from a buddys stock car)
checked all coil boots and springs
changed all 8 coils/boots/springs
checked and changed IAC Sensor
checked to make sure the 02 sensors had good condition

now i still have the issue but no "CEL"

here is what the car does..
when parked out of gear.. it will idle between 700 and 900rpms..
when in wichever gear driving at stops it will hold idle between 1500-1600
and finall fall back to about 800 after a few sec..

there is no change in driving.. just at idle.. again all was well till i changed the filler neck gromet..

anyone know what i could be missing?

the CEL was on 2 days ago but i took it out on the highway for a 15min cruise from Lburg Indiana to Hebron KY at about 115mph cutting it no slack weaving in and out of traffic and the CEL went off and has not come back on however the issue is still there..

any help would be appriciated

Car is stock besides CAI and flowmaster mufflers

anyhow bout 3 days later CEL came back on.. code is i belive P0174
wich was saying.. Lean Condition Bank #1 and #2

bad maf?

before i buy a new one id like to have a little thought on it if anyone has any ideas

P0174 is a lean condition on bank 2, it has the same possible causes as P0171 which is the bank 1 equivalent.

As it is just one bank reporting lean (that it is actually lean should be determined with a wide band O² system--it could be a bad O² sensor) I would first focus on things that would only affect one bank. The MAF is not one of those things.

A bad sensor and/or exhaust leaks are such things, one or more bad injectors on that bank could cause it as well. Did you check for pending DTCs when you checked the trouble codes? They will often provide some additional information as to what is wrong...

I had autozone and advance auto run the codes.. Whatever the last code/s was they said bank 1 and 2 and gave me a list of crap it could be.. One being the maf wich when I did clean it I got my idle back down.. It was at 1500-2000 and was really slow falling from 3500-normal idle most of that is cleared up now.. Besides it saying a lean condition the only real issue I have seen is if its sitting around idling like on my lunch break after a while it will choke up and die.. Unless the defrost is on wich causes the car to idle up and down between normal idle and bout 1600rpms

It is important to know the codes, not the generic description the "technician" at the FLAPS said gave you.

Get the codes read again and look them up here to find out what the Ford shop manual says about them...
