Default Rear End Gear HELP!!!!!

so my friend has a 2000 GT and i have a 1997 GT. he has 4.10 gears and i have 3.73 in mine. but he is selling his GT and getting a 05 GT and is giving me his 4.10s out of his rear end so i can put it in my rear end. but i wanted to make sure it would work before we went through the trouble of taking them out. i mean i have a whole bunch of stuff from newer mustangs in my car that said it wont fit but fits perfectly. my manual transmision is out of a 02 GT. so if it is possible what do i need to make it work like axles or anything else from his rear end? or nothing they will just fit or not fit. any help will be awesome guys. thanks.

The ring and pinion (gears) will bolt right in. Any 8.8 ring and pinion will work in any Ford vehicle that has the 8.8 rearend
But going from 3.73 to 4.10 just isn't worth it to me. Your not gaining enough to justify the swap

How many miles do you have on your 3.73s? Looking to sell?

so is the install and setup free also? Aren't 4.10 gears not an ideal gear for twins?

^^ 3.73 is probably as high as you should go for FI. Anything higher and you may as well forget about 1st gear and just start in 2nd all the time.

And yes, gears are the same for the 8.8 since about 1979+

Turbos want lower numeric gears(3.73) is gonna be a better turbo gear. (3.55 or stock 3.27 is what I would of actually gone with) The extra load from the gears(lower numeric gears) will help put load and spool the turbos..
