Death Rattle. 4.6 2v
hey guys so i just bought 2003 ford mustang gt with 75k miles.
i had oil change, new oil filter, new air filter, plus transmission flushed.
week after the service there is metal rattling sound that started coming the right side of engine when i go over 2000 rpm so i took it back to them and the oil is leaking and i'm getting it fixed tomorrow. i am just wondering if it is the death rattle or something else. and if it is death rattle is it possible that leakage of oil caused something bad in the engine?
i'm sorry i am new to mustangs and don't know that much about cars.
never going back to sears auto center ever.

sounds like top end and on the right side and i can barely hear it. also it's been like 3 weeks now and there is no problem with the performance or anything it drives fine and pulls hard.
changed gasket, the oil leaking is solved.

HLAs are generally noisy for one of two reasons; a) they are worn and collapsing when loaded, or b) they are gummed up and sticking/not rebounding after being loaded.
If they are worn and collapsing using a heavier weight motor oil can quiet them and reduce further wear to some extent. If they are sticking then on of the "mechanic in a can" engine flush products might free them up. Be aware however that flushing them make move them into category a) if they are badly worn and it was the gum and gunk that was sealing them up enough so they worked at all...
