i have a pioneer premier headunit i want to put into an 02 GT, i was wondering how to go about taking the center part of the dash apart to remove the stock unit in there. its the mach 1000 setup if that makes and difference.

As far as I know, haven't work on a mustang newer than 95. All you need is the Ford keys, 2 U shaped pieces of metal that have a bead on the ends. Yes go buy them don't try and take them out with a screwdriver, it won't work. And when you pull off the trim piece around your console just yank it, those metal clips will pop out.

on the newer mustangs (mine is an 03) you dont need the keys, however you have to pull the whole panel off of the center to get to the screws that hold it in once those are unscrewed the unit slides right out

thanks guys for the posts... is there any special ways i need to know about when taking the center panel off.. does it just pop out or is it screwed in?
Ill post a DIY with pics next week after i do this install this weekend.

Hey tcuallstar, after looking at you car domain account, you and i have the same cars just your's is a year newer and has leather. Same color and all. Sweet! All i got done to mine so far is Magnaflow ehxaust, i want to do the TB and intake next.
