Default Grinding, or vibrations

Lately, my car has had this grinding or vibration coming from the rear end and it happens when driving up a hill, or accelerating. Could it be a symptom of a bad transmission?

It doesn't always mean its a bad transmission..
It could be something in the differential or the wheel bearings.. start there and hope that you don't need a new transmission.

Coming from the rear-end I would first suspect a problem there. It is simple enough to pull the cover and have a look...
