Misfire on cylinder #5. It was a bad coil on plug...
Runs like a champ now.

The COP likely overheated from being shorted out by the coolant leak, they are not designed to dump their full charge on each firing. The others that were flooded may fail down the road (no pun intended).

The other common cause of COP failures are very badly worn plugs and cracked/hardened/burned COP boots...

Yea i have heard that it is very common for the COPs on these cars to go bad. I had a problem a while ago with hesitation and bogging in 5th gear so I replaced them all and it fixed it. I'm going to replace them all with accel COPs

It is not very common at all, other than that the newest of these cars is 9 years old and no one changes the plugs until a month or two after the engine starts misfiring so badly they cannot stand it any longer--or decides they are going to wash the engine or has an intake manifold leak that floods the plug wells-- which as I said above burns out the COPs. I can burn them out with my COP Tester in under 10 seconds by rapidly firing one 20 to 25 times in rapid succession; across a 5/8" air gap. Smoke starts to come out of them. It is the rapid, repeated, full dump of their charge that kills them as they are not designed to ever do that.

I wish I could have a nickel for every post on every motor vehicle forum that starts with "I have been having this problem for a couple months now..."

Im going through the same issue except i caught it early enough that I drive my car 4 miles to work before it gets totally warm and clean up the little bit of coolant i can find with shop rags and brake clean bwaha. Its a pretty odd thing to have to replace on your car. Im defiantly not looking forward to spending a day to put it in. And i seriously hope your wrong cliffy about the heater core cuz im gonna be upset if that goes. Cars been so good to me why!!!
