Default Transmission Fluid

I want to do a transmission fluid change, and I was reading the Haynes manual on the procedure, and it only shows removing the fluid from the pan and not from the converter. I want to completely remove the old fluid in the converter as well, so it is possible to get the fluid out from the converter? is there a drain plug?

Also, if I am able to get the fluid out of the converter, how do I add the fluid to the converter? because I don't want to start the car up without some fluid in the converter, or will it not be a problem without any fluid in there.

Might be easier to just take it to a trans shop for the change, usually its not much more money wise than doing it yourself cause the convertor holds alot of fluid.

The only way to get most of your fluid out is a trans flush and it's a touchy subject on a car with higher mileage cause of all the dirt and debris inside the tranny being pushed around causing problems. For the most part everything usually works out. We do 8 quart flushes on Toyotas , but a transmission typically holds around 12 quarts leaving 4 old quarts still inside. But if it gives you piece of mind then thats all that matters.
