Default Questions about my car

I just recently got my first car it's a 2004 Mustang GT Convertible with 55000 miles it has been sitting outside for a year and a half before i got it so some problems are to be expected.

Here are some questions i was hoping you guys could answer:

My dad was saying that the car doesn't have the power that it used to have and said that i may need a tune up, do i need one and if so what all do i need done in said tune up?

He also said that he never noticed this whirling sound when he's downshifting from like 4th to first for a stop sign is this normal?

Also he said that when he was driving it for a couple hours to get it ready for an inspection it randomly cut off at a turn so what could this be?

Dude, change all your fluids, filters, inspect all rubber for deterioration.
Cut off in a turn could be a multitude of things, power steering pump could be going, first thing I would check.
Get you a Chiltons, the maintenance section before the first chapeter is one of the things I will say is amazing in those books. It shows you all the PM, and how test everything. Knowledge is power!

He's going directly from 4th to first not 4-3-2-1

It's impossible to down shift like that to first. At least mine won't allow that, it would sound like I didn't even have the pedal down. I can only put my car into first at a stop.

I'm assuming that he's stopped when shifting from 4th to 1st. If the whirring sound is when the pedal is depressed, it's probably the throw-out bearing.

Yeah like if I'm slowing down to a stop with the clutch in is when it makes the sound. I'm assuming by the way your post sounded its nothing bad i don't know all too much about cars so i wouldn't know.

Ya probably the throwout bearing is starting to go as far as that sound. My dads 03 is almost the same mileage and the throwout bearing is starting to churp. No biggie other then alittle annoying. Just drive it till it gets hard to get in and out of gear.

Could be educational! Change your clutch!
