Would a tune help?
Hi-- I have a 2003 GT Convertible that is bone stock with 58000 miles. I do not intend to upgrade with any bolt on mods now or in the future. I would like the car to run the best it can and be the most efficient as possible and, at the same time, kept as original as possible. Do you think a tune would help? Can you suggest a tune for a stock vehicle that I can research on the web. Thanks.

Yup, Bama tunes from American Muscle is what I'm going with shortly. Their tunes are generally pretty conservative and will help the car to run more "efficiently". A little extra power and perhaps an extra mpg or two.
A tune will also tighten up the shifts a bit if it's an auto. The stock tune is stored on the tuner so the car can be put back to stock at anytime.

The stock tune has very conservative ignition timing, and on the late '02, '03 and '04 models with the pink 21 lb/h injectors runs VERY rich in open-loop mode. You will find an appreciable power gain with even a "87 octane" custom tune. Better yet load a premium fuel tune and spend the $4 to $6 more per tank (hold back on a couple beers or lattes between fill-ups and you'll have it covered).

Guys, thanks for the replies. Cliffy, you are absolutly right, I do have the pink injectors and I do not mind spending the extra money for 93 fuel as I put less than 4000 miles a year on the vehicle. I guess that a call to American Muscle is in order. Thanks again.

I work as a Paramedic and lucky enough to be employed by 2 different services. They are 24 hour shifts. I leave one job and go across the county line and start over again. 48 on and 48 off. Both stations are within 5 miles of each other. My house is in between them so I drive less than 20 miles a week for work. I sort of wish I had further to drive.
