Speedo re calibration
Hi,
I have just imported a 2002 Gt into the u.k, the Mustang is from Canada, can anyone tell me if i can change the clocks to Mph, and have the speedo re-calibrated, if so how easy is it? and would i need to have the mile ometer replaced or the chip re set up?
Regards,
Lee.

RE: Speedo re calibration
A Ford dealership can take care of that if you have any over there. Ford keeps mileage location (on the board in the speedo cluster) locked up pretty tight, the dealerships don't even have the ability to change the mileage on them.
You're saying that it defaults to kph instead of mph? Well to change that you're going to have to get a new instrument cluster, in that case though, you will have to go to a Ford dealership and if you want to retain the miles (or kilometers that are on it in this case ) you will need to buy a new cluster through Ford... this is going to be over $200 USD. Again, assuming you have a Ford dealership somewhere over there. I'm sure if you do have a Ford dealership though, they can take care of it for you, if you take your old cluster out yourself (or have it ready to take out) they will only charge you for one hour's labor, you still need to have them order a new cluster though.
You will not need to change your ECU, mileage is stored (as well as your key codes, so if you replace the speedometer cluster yourself, you will still need to go to the ford dealership because your car will not start... it thinks you have a bad key in, and the anti-theft system engages) in the speedometer cluster... that's the only thing you will need to change.
