Default Aftermarket 99 gt radio help

The cassette player reads an Error 2 code, looked it up and it says a jammed tape? Theres nothing in there though and when i try to put a cassette in it doesn't go in on its on and when i forced it, it doesn't play either. Figured the CD player would work still... nope it starts to read the cd then switches to radio...sucks. I've decided to get a new head unit and have a few questions. I read some where that there is a special wiring harness for hooking the mach 460 up to it. I also may throw a buddies amp in and was wondering If there was anything I should know that was special with the 460 hooking up to this system. Thank you.

The issue with the Mach system is impedance matching. Standard car audio is 4 ohm while the Mach system uses a 2 ohm system. So unless you replace the whole shebang, you need to have some kind of adapter that will match the impedance between your aftermarket head unit and the rest of the system.

Yeah the 460 has to have all the amp controls tied in with the harness. It's just a different one compared to the base model mustang stereo. Check out crutchfield.com for vehicle specific parts. I just recently installed a new head unit, got all my parts at best buy. They entered my info on their computer and had all the install parts in the back.

This is the harness, its actually very easy to do. I did it on my mach 1 not too long ago.

There is going to be three cables from the stock harness in the car, the one in the middle is not used.

That wiring harness is for the 01-03 mustangs it says. I can't seem to find one for the 99 specifically.

You should look on crutchfield website. I just ordered a headunit and all four interior speakers and installed about a week ago. They included the speaker harness for all 4 speakers, stereo harness, step by step instructions, and the headunit dash kit all for FREE. It made my install super easy and fast. Just plug and play. I don't have a mach system but I'm sure they will have what you need.
