Default 1998 gt no acceleration

I just bought my first 1998 mustang gt auto. This is my issue even its in park everything sounds good. When car is in gear and u put the pedal too the floor the car Biggs bad and does no where. Rpm stay at 2000. First thought was tune up but same results anyone ever heard if this issue i have not ran the codes yet. Figured a experienced mustang guy would know. Think i should flush the motor with water.Lol

Before throwing money and parts at it, pull the codes.
Btw, plugged cats can do this too.

It doesn't rev in gear sometimes it acts like it wants to blast off then bogs down i will know the codes here in a bit going too get it hooked up i just bought the car as is
For 950 hopeing its a easy fix.but its runs so smooth at idle it has to be something simple just bogs with a load on it reverse and drive 2000 rpm all she has

Can you push the car easily in neutral? It could be the parking brake or one (or more) of the calipers stuck.
Does the car not move at all in any gear? If that is the case, it very well could be that the tranny is shot.
