Bolt on from newer stangs

I was looking for a list of bolt on upgrades from newer mustangs that would fit on my 1997 with minor modifications if any. I searched this page and dug through google. Maybe I am not searching the right thing or maybe there aren't any. I live in an area where we get a decent amount of snow and quite a few totaled RWD cars. I was going to go junk yard hopping for some parts for my stang and was hoping for a list of thing to keep a look out for while I do.

Anyone know of any? Or a thread already dedicated to this. (Sorry if there already is one).

you can use the Intake Manifold and Heads from a 99-04 GT, this is a very common mod and its called a PI swap. (performance increased) should take you from 205hp to 270hp. The 96-98 responded better to those heads than to the 99-04 which have a little less compression tune.

also you may be able to use the mach sound system out of any mustang. the s197 is too different of a car to take anything off of, so youre looking at 99-04 only pretty much.

Look for some gears, i think any 8.8 rear end will be compatible. Some explorers came with 4.10s. And i think CAIs from the new edges will fit your car, and probably the exhaust as well. Thats assuming they have aftermarket exhaust.

Get pi heads asap or 4v swap

While I have worked on cars my whole life doing a head swap on my own is a little out of my league. Anyone live close to Reno, NV? haha Also if I do summon up the courage to dismantle the top half of my engine, will it need a full dyno tune/mapping afterwards? Or will Bama writing me up one work well enough?

I will keep an eye out for some X-pipes and headers (if only I could be that lucky). Maybe pick up a pair of heads while I am there for a future date.

Thank you guys for the ideas.

With a good set of instructions the head swap isn't that difficult on the 2v, if it was a 4v id say maybe pass on it yourself if you weren't comfortable but a 2v should be fine.
