I agree.Definitely sounds like 4.10 gears. They are a popular choice.I wouldn't change them.I have a 98 with them in and haven't changed anything to correct my speedometer yet either. When mine says 81 I'm actually around 68.I have a speed cal but haven't put it on yet.

Bought the car about 50 miles away and had someone take me up there then on the way back got next to them to check the speed since the speedo said i was doing 100mph and he said he was doing 75 i then downloaded a GPS speedometer on my phone and have been using that since the speedo is so far off
If it is 4.10's and those are the "preffered" choice then what would be the easiest way to get the speedo set back how it needs to be?

For that kind of driving, I would think something around a 3.83 (or whatever it is close to that Ford uses for that rearend). That would help your mileage some over 4.10s, but would still allow you some oomph.

I wouldn't say best (not that it is or isn't, I just don't know if it is), but here is one that is used by a number of people:

On that year car I believe a tuner won't correct for different gears. On a 99 and newer car it will. You need to buy a speedcal and install it.I bought a Dallas speedcal off a friend.I think Ford Racing makes one too.The handheld tuners only correct cars that have digital odometers is what I've been told. They started using them in 99.
