Default How Loud? (no cats)

Hello i'm new here and i just bought my first mustang. Its a 2000 gt. well what i would like to know is how loud do you think it will be. See the previous owner put headers on with an X pipe (no cats) and strait to a flow master 44 system. so it is loud. what i would like to know is that i have to put cats on the car so it can be inspected but i don't want them to make the car more quite. Will they? has anyone ever been in a similar situation?

an offroad x pipe (no cats) will always be louder and more raspier than a catted x pipe. just take the cats off after inspection (make sure you put the correct tune back on or mil eliminators) and you'll be good to go

Or some people kinda meet in the middle and weld in high flow cats. Passes inspection unless really strict and doesn't change up the tone too much.

But yes anytime you have to modify your off road mid pipe. Your day tends to suck

check out the slp high flow cats on american muscle. I put them on to pass inspection and liked them so much I kept them on the car. It quiets it down, but if I get on it your still going to hear it a mile away.

try coupling an mrt catted h-pipe with your choice of cat back. sounds great with a good deep rumble. Or run a bassani x pipe. They have a "cat delete tube" which i believe is a simple clamp on 15 minutes bolt on. allows you to go from catted to o/r quickly so it might be perfect for your situation. No gaurantee it would pass a smog test if it applies to you.

go with the high flow cats for sure to save on the hassle. i know people want the O/R stuff but if you live in a state that inspects then its only reasonable to have CATS as lame as it is.
