going to get a tuner

going to get a tuner
are all tuners equal? surely not. I was looking at the Bama tuner. I guess i have to also consider Diabo Sport. I dont want to spend more than 400$ out the door.
also what is the computer upgrade like on the mustang from 97 to 01? I feel like the newer a car is the better response youll get out of tuner. I am not expecting 31 rwhp or anything from it, maybe like 10 rwhp and better AF mix, if you can even do that? What else can you do with tuners besides read codes and adjust AF mix, and adjust for modifications.

More dyno tuners seem to use SCT more than Diablo if you ever plan on getting a dyno tune in the future. My 03 responded fairly well to the 93 Performance tune from Bama I had on it before I wrecked. Gas mileage dropped by 1 mpg so that wasn't bad. I did have the idle hang more than usual while using the tune though.
Tuner can pretty much load custom tunes, check codes, I think clear codes, and allow you to adjust certain perameters to make your own custom tune.

SCT is good especially if you order it from Americanmuscle because of the free tunes for life. But if you like to do everything yourself I would suggest the Diablo. The live data and charts are much better. You can monitor much more. That I've noticed at least

You're going to notice rather large increases in a few different departments. Such as Power, Torque, Acceleration, Drive Ability, Gas Mileage, Throttle Response and so much more! Give the Bama team a call and they'll give you the run down on exactly how we write every tune.
Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

All of the tuners have similar features. The good thing about all the different devices is, they'll all deliver the exact same tune to your mustang! It really depends on what you plan to use the device for, if you're looking to just tune your car and put the device in your glove box until next time, the the SCT SF3 is perfect for you. However if you have a few extra bucks and are interested in the touch screen and added features, the SCT iTSX or Diablosport inTune may be better for you! Either way, you really can't go wrong.

Mike from diablo sport said and I quote:
Theres no tuner that will allow you to adjust part throttle AFR.
The end user fueling adjustments in our tools are for adjusting the AFR at WOT.
Part throttle fueling is controlled by closed loop operation based on feedback from your O2s, and ideally it will always be a perfectly lean 14.7:1 AFT at cruise/part throttle.
We have never created a specific mileage tune for any performance car application
In all honesty, if you want mileage from your Stang, 'keep your foot out of it' is the best piece of advice there is.
I am still sour about this years later, feeling mislead about some ECO mode that never existed yet was marketed to me.
