Default Can a 600hp 98 cobra run 0-60 in under 3 sec?

Alright.... So Im not a mustang person but I made an account here awhile back to learn some stuff. And right now I have a question about a 98 cobra that I figured this would be the best place to go and ask.

Can a 98 cobra with about 600hp, maybe a little more.. i cant remember. Go 0-60 in under 3 seconds? The person said 2.5. I tried to tell him it was a bunch of BS. Is there any way that this is possible? And this cobra still be able to drive on the street. He says it has a weight reduction... But it still has full interior. I just need to know what to think of this. And who better to ask than a group of mustang guys.

i say no way thats way fast hed be running 160 mph 1/4 times. doesnt matter how much power you have have to put it to the ground.

it's always possible. and it sounds like it's got the power to do it. maybe with slicks on it.

It could, but I question how it would be measured. G-Techs are not accurite and are worse with the 0-60 time. The only real way to measure is with timing equipment similar to what a race track uses, but that stuff is nearly impossible to find set up for 0-60. But with good traction yes a 600 hp car *could* do that.

Ya uhh no. cars running 160 in the 1/4 are in the high 7's and pull 1.1x 60 foot times. so 0-60 would come in at around 1.5-2.0.

But... then how can the 800hp light weight ME Four Twelve only get it in 2.9?

Or the venom 800tt only get it in 2.X [either .6 or .8]

And, this person is claiming it with street drag radials.

This is where i was confused, alright... see this is an aquantances friends car... [ive never talked to the guy who actually owns the car] but the guy said that they dyno said it could do 0-60 that quick. I didnt think dynos could do that... And thats not accurate is it if it does? Because its on rollers... thats nothing like asphault. I still dont see a 600hp 3000 and something lb car going 0-60 that quick, Unless it was an auto and it was geared just for that.

the dyno could tell you under perfect circumstance with perfect tranction that the car could do that. however, perfect circumstances don't actually exist.

Hmm, yea....

I still dont see how it could though... like how anything with that power to weight ratio could do a 0-60 in under 3 seconds.... Wouldnt the dyno also be saying that the car doesnt have a weight? Due to the fact its not actually moving the weight of the car.. just the rollers?

Depends on the dyno, Mustang dynos for example can factor in wind resistance and all sorts of other varibles, but there is no way a 600hp car on street radials is going anywhere near that fast. At the track with slicks then yes it could be done.
