Default my question of the day

Do people who put cobra hoods on their car feel goofy when they pull up to a real cobra? I had a mustang track me down while driving yesterday and in my rear view mirror I could see the cobra hood, but when it got next to me I could see it was a GT. He just went on his way, but there must have been a reason for him to weave between cars to get up to me.

Maybe he just likes mustangs and wanted to see your car???? Why would he feel goofy about putting a cobra hood on his car?

I kinda understand where you're coming from, like people putting cobra badges and body kits on a v6 mustang. Personally it's something I wouldn't want to do, but that's just the thing about mustangs. You can customize them in so many ways to match what you're looking for in the car. With so many different models out there... Saleen, SVT, Roush, Califonia Special, Mach 1, Steeda, etc etc... You have the options to modifying almost anything on the car from cosmetics to power adders. If you like the way Cobras look, but don't want the extra money associated with maintaining one, putting on some cobra bumpers and hood are always an option. In my opinion it's what hold the mustang community together. I may not like what someone has done to their car, it may look horrible in fact, but I always respect the time and money they have put in to it.

Now on the other hand, if you have a bone stock v6 mustang dressed up as a cobra, and you tell people you've got a DOHC supercharged engine under the hood, that's just ignorant.

Don't ask me. I'm amused by CobraJet badges on '03-'04 shakers.

It would be pretty boring if all of them looked the same. You buy the car then make it your own. However I am against rebadging the car into something it is not.

Cobra hoods can also benefit any Mustang aerodynamically, improve heat extraction and resolve clearance issues for engine mods.

I agree, rebadging your car to something it isn't just makes me . Other than that it's a free for all

Default I am getting old

I just dont like the look. You either have it or you dont. There is no "Clone" since a "Clone" is an exact duplicate. Maybe I am getting cynical in my 40's. However, what i wouldnt have done to make my 1970's cutlass a 442....still want one.

I have a gt500 rear spoiler and I don't feel goofy when a gt500 pulls up next to me. The dude wanted to catch you because it's what mustang drivers do when they see another mustang on the road... catch up, check out your ride, give you a nod, race, or etc.

In the future, I want to put a 03-04 Cobra hood on my GT. I am not a big fan of the nonfunctional hood scoop. In my case, it has nothing to do with cloning. It is a bone stock Gt Vert with 58000 miles on it and I like it just as it is.
