Russ96GT

My Heater Hose Return on 96GT blew up. Inside is a "reducer" that seems to take the hose from 3/4" down to 1/2". Can anyone tell me what the purpose of this is?

I got a replacement through Auto Zone and it does not have this reducer. There is no way to insert the other one into the new hose. Does it matter?

Put a hose clamp on it. tighten it down and check for leaks. If no leaks, your fine.
