Default OEM 5spd Shifter Question (Lube or Replace)

(1996 Mustang GT) My shifter has lost it's loving feeling recently. Doesn't spring like before. No gear grinding just a little sluggish. How do I re-grease/lube/rebuild or should I think about replacing it with an aftermarket one?

Thanks in advance!

If it doesn't spring odds are the springs inside are worn out. I would just go with an aftermarket replacement.

yeah I'd get an aftermarket one. It was the first mod I did to mine several years back and it was worth it.

Idk of its a little late, but id have to suggest getting an after matket shifter. I recently replaced my stock shifter with a SR Performance short throw shifter from AmericanMuscle.com and its shifts amazing. way better. not as sloppy and gears go on great. It's not even that pricey and easy to do it your self. took me about 30-45 min. Hope this helps if your still looking...
