What models did the aluminum block 2V come in? I've heard that certain year Explorers had them. Were there any others?

Search for the WAP or Teksid blocks. The latter is a bit stronger, but the Windsor (WAP) is by no means a weak starting point. Lincoln Aviator would be a newer motor with an aluminum block for you. I picked up a 2001 Cobra short block off a local forum when I redid mine. Gives the advantage of a forged crank already tucked into it as well.

Hmmmm, well now I have more to consider. What are the advantages other than weight with an aluminum block? Did someone say it is stronger and what about the rest of the engine other than just the short block? I'm guess I'd still need to get the cams and all that from another like the Crown Vic??? That part I wasn't sure about when I read the above posts. If that's the case I'll have to buy 2 engines and I don't want to go that way.

Also, thanks for the link Bramas. Anybody else have any website suggestions?

Google "MPS Auto Salvage" - they have them for around 1500.00 - they ship as well.

That link I gave you is a Salvage Yard data base pretty much all good salvage yards are on that site your not going to find a better place to find a used engine if you are getting it from a salvage yard.
