I bought an '04 GT just a couple of months ago. Mostly stock --- 4.6L SOHC V-8, 5-speed Tremec 3650 manual trans, 3.27:1 gears, K&N Cold Air Intake and Flowmaster mufflers.

I had a bit of a hard time deciding on which ring & pinion gears to go with --- 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. I went with the Ford Racing 4.10 gears and the SCT (BAMA) tuner from American Muscle.

The car DEFINTELY runs better with the 91 Octane performace tune and the 4.10 gears than it did before adding these two mods! The engine runs smoother, has better throttle response and pulls harder. It's NOT a rocketship, but it's WAY BETTER than before!

I would also like to go with a Supercharger at some point down the line, but I'm not sure that I want to put that kind of money into this car --- we'll see. But, if you go with forced induction and decide that the 4.10 gearing is too "short", you can always add a taller wheel/tire combo. The taller wheel/tire combo will effectively give you "taller" gearing if you feel the need to go in that direction.

Bottom line..... I'm convinced that the 4.10 gearing on our cars is a "win-win" scenario!

Keep in mind ----

SHORTER gearing means a higher numeric gear ratio (ie. 4.10 gears are "short" gears compared to 3.27 gears).

TALL gearing means a lower numeric gear ratio (ie. 2.73 gears are REALLY "tall" gears compared to 4.56 gears).

The overall rear end gear ratio can be "manipulated" by a combination of rear end gears AND the diameter/rolling circumference of the tires.

I am TOTALLY interested in hearing all about it as you go along. I'm really apprehensive about doing too many mods on my car --- just not sure it's worth spending the $$$ on a 10 year old model (that I'm the 4th or 5th owner and don't have any REAL records on the car).

Good choice on the gear selection....I must admit it took me a while to get use to the 410's and the supercharger. It can be done though. If you decide to go FI in the future I would assume you're be going with a centri (vortech, paxton, procharger) instead of roots style (KB). I couldn't imagine have 410's and a KB. Don't mean to thread jack but do any of you guys know of anyone running 410's with a KB?

For sure man ill always post stuff up on here. Im going to be ordering a complete suspension setup for the 03gt within the next couple weeks. Im sure ill make a thread to get some help and opinions with that. As far as mods on a 10 year old car.. whocares! do it, youll fall in love with your car all over again! Thats all i do is take my money and turn it into mods. Best feeling ever
