+1 on the 3.90 gear option.

This is often overlooked by guys debating 3.73 vs 4.10. I really like my 3.90 for a DD that sees 50+ passes at the strip each year.

no helical cut gear set will whine if installed correctly, period.... however, there is no option on the sct for 3.90s, so if you have a pre 01.5 you can do the speed cal to correct the speedo, but the t3650 guys are SOL on getting the speedo accurate

A lot of people talk down about 3.90s because Ford Racing does not make them. 3.73 & 4.10s are the FRPP gear sets.

OK... he has already said that he went with the 4.10:1 gear ratio. So, the 3.73 or 3.90 ratios don't really matter now!

The forced induction stuff still remains in question (at least to me). I've never had a supercharged engine in any of my cars. Why (exactly) would it make a difference if the original poster went with a centrifugal supercharger vs. a roots-type supercharger (while using 4.10:1 rear end gears)??

I hear you.... really I do!!

I'd feel a LOT differently about my Mustang if I had bought it new (or was even the 2nd owner with ALL of the info/history on the car).

There are two main reasons why I don't want to spend too much money on this car ----

1) It will NEVER come close to the performance of my "main" play toy --- a lightly modified 2000 Kawasaki ZX-12R. [170 rwhp @ 530 pounds "wet" --- DynoJet 250]

2) I got the car with almost 134,000 miles on it. I'll probably only keep the '04 Mustang for 4 or 5 years and then buy a used 2012 or newer Mustang GT with 412+ Hp naturally aspirated.

Hey... just the way I look at things!
