Default Good news, With a tad Of bad... Need HELP!

Well i finally go the engine in on the mach and she fired right up after the rebuild.
Everything was great till i tried to raise the rpms to break in the cams. i brought her up to 2k and held it there for about 3 min before i noticed a ticking coming along. Long story short, i came to the conclusion it was one of the pulleys. so i took the belt off to see if it was coming from the crankshaft. and sure enough once i started her up the noise was coming from there. It came to be that the pully was rubbing up against the timing cover. My mind immediatly went to the worst situation, being crankshaft endplay. But i ruled that out cause me and my partner that was working on it with me set the thrust bearing, and torqued everything down to specs according on how the manual told us to. and Recorded our endplay reading after everything was torqued and it was about.003 thousands of an inch. when max endplay allowed is .011 thousands. I don't know what to do at the moment, im goign to take it off tomorro again and retorque it down again (the harmonic balancer) and hope for the best. Has this happened to anyone that rebuilt their engine? Anyone ever heared of the harmonic balancer rubbing up against the timing cover before? And any ideas how i could fix it? Do you think if a made a small spacer to put behind the harmonic balancer that would work or throw everthing off?

Help :O(
i need to get this thing on the road

If you have access to a lathe, try turning a couple of thousanths off the back. This will be a lot less complicated than making something.

Yes I just totally love crankshaft end play!!! Good luck on that. Right now I'm battling a small oil drip on a 97 GT.

:-)
