Pull the trans and remove the flywheel.

Remove exhaust mid pipe, remove driveshaft, remove transmission, remove clutch/flywheel or TC/flywheel. Replace Seal, installation is reversal of removal.

I'd also advise getting a blind whole seal puller like this one:
Lisle 58430 Shaft Type Seal Puller : Amazon.com : Automotive Lisle 58430 Shaft Type Seal Puller : Amazon.com : Automotive
to avoid scratching/damaging the crank while trying to get the old seal off. There isn't much room inbetween the seal and the crank. There is just enough to slide the little arm on this tool in between the seal & crank. Its in their pretty snug.

Good luck...

When removing it tap a flathead screwdriver in between the BLOCK and the seal, don't do it on the crankshaft side. Once it's in there just pry it out and it should pop right out.

Be certain it is the rear main though. It is the most commonly misdiagnosed oil leak because generally any engine oil leaks will run to that area of the motor. Clean everything real good with some brake clean and a rag and then double check. It would be a shame for you to do all that work just to find out you had a leaky gasket somewhere.

And while you have it apart think seriously about replacing the TOB and pilot bearing, and maybe the clutch as well...

Be careful with this method. The seal is fairly stiff on the outer edge and it is easy to slip and scratch up the crank shaft trying to get it to bight. Same if you don’t get it in straight, it could gouge the crankshaft. If you gouge up the block surface too much you could cause a leak on the outside edge of the seal. Depending on how deep the gouges are, you might be able to clean it up with some sand paper. You don’t want to damage the new seal on those gouges when installing it.

Good luck...
