Default Pro 5.0 shifter

With this installed was I supposed to cut some of the rubber boot on the bottom to fit over the ring? If I did not what will happen?

just as long as it shifts freely, it's fine. i didn't have to cut mine. at first i didn't put that rubber thing back on and the interior noise was crazy, and the heat that came through was unreal. put that thing back on real quick.
